Year 12 students at Shireland CBSO Academy had the privilege of engaging in an insightful Futures Talk with representatives from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO). Tom Spurgin and Carolyn Burton shared valuable insights into the diverse roles within the organisation, ranging from its talented musicians to its dedicated marketing team. This provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities available in the world of music and the arts.
The guests also took the time to share their personal career journeys, highlighting the experiences and challenges that shaped their professional paths. Their stories offered invaluable guidance and inspiration, showcasing the varied and rewarding career prospects within the creative industries.
Additionally, they generously offered students exclusive one-to-one masterclass opportunities within the CBSO, set to take place in the near future. These sessions will provide hands-on experience and professional mentorship, including support with CV writing to prepare for future employment.
The Academy would like to thank its guests and the CBSO for their time and commitment to supporting and inspiring the next generation of professionals. This experience has been an invaluable opportunity for the students, reinforcing the school’s dedication to providing enriching and career-focused learning experiences.
