Shireland CBSO Academy Opens Year-Round Food and Coat Banks for Families in Need

Shireland CBSO Academy is proud to announce the opening of its permanent food and coat banks, designed to support students and their families throughout the year.

This initiative follows the success of the Academy’s donation drive in December 2024, which saw an overwhelming response from students, families, and staff. The school collected non-perishable food items to assist families during the holiday season, and the generosity shown has inspired the creation of a long-term solution to provide essential resources to those in need.

In addition to the food bank, the Academy has established a coat bank, offering winter coats, hats, scarves, and gloves to students. The Salvation Army, which the Academy has previously partnered with to set up a uniform donation drive, has also generously contributed coats and winter accessories, helping us to further support families.

David Green, Principal of Shireland CBSO Academy, said: “We are incredibly proud of the way our school community has come together to support one another.

“At Shireland CBSO Academy, we take great pride in nurturing a caring and inclusive environment, and the generosity shown by our students, families, and staff has been truly heart warming. The food and coat banks will provide ongoing support to those who need it most, ensuring that no one in our Academy goes without.”

Shireland CBSO Academy welcomes non-perishable food and coat donations, which can be made directly at the school.
