Students Explore University Life with Aston University

Year 12 Students at Shireland CBSO Academy and Shireland Biomedical UTC had the privilege of meeting Catherine Bough from Aston University, gaining valuable insights into the realities of university life.

During the inspiration session, Bough discussed various aspects of student life and key considerations for university applications. She emphasised the importance of crafting a compelling personal statement, taking advantage of the opportunities provided by extra-curricular activities, and maintaining a proactive approach to learning. These factors can significantly enhance a student’s experience and help them stand out in a highly competitive market.

Bough also highlighted the range of taster sessions available at Aston University, which are designed to give prospective students a first hand experience of university studies and campus life.

The talk proved to be a valuable and enlightening experience for students, equipping them with essential knowledge as they prepare to consider their options post sixth form. Events like these play a crucial role in helping students make informed decisions about their academic pathways and futures.
