Connexions Careers Fair January 2026: Explore Your Future with Shireland CBSO Academy Sixth Form

Shireland CBSO Academy Sixth Form will be exhibiting at the Connexions Sandwell New Year New Start Careers Fair on Saturday 24 January 2026 from 9:30am-2:00pm at The Hawthorns, West Bromwich, B71 4LF.

This free event offers young people aged 14-25 the chance to explore a wide range of education and career pathways. With over 50 exhibitors, including colleges, universities, apprenticeship providers, and leading employers, attendees can gain valuable insights to help shape their futures.

Based in West Bromwich, Shireland CBSO Academy offers a distinctive educational experience that combines academic and creative excellence with exceptional opportunities to develop musical talent. The Academy provides a wide range of A level and vocational courses. Students also benefit from professional masterclasses, workshops, and performance opportunities, allowing students to thrive in a dynamic, creative community focused on achievement.

Students enjoy dedicated, state-of-the-art facilities, including performance spaces, recording studios, and comprehensive sport, art, and design resources, creating an ideal setting for academic, musical and personal growth. The Academy also places strong emphasis on personal development, careers advise and pastoral care, ensuring students receive a well-rounded education.

A key feature of the Academy is its commitment to musical development. Students can access free instrumental or vocal tuition, regardless of their chosen courses or prior musical experience.

The Academy’s unique partnership with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra provides unique and exceptional musical opportunities. In addition, collaboration with Laney Amplification, a leader in British guitar and bass amplification, allows students to gain hands-on experience in music technology. This includes workshops and masterclasses with Laney experts, work experience, mentoring and guidance to prepare students for successful careers in the music industry.

Jo Lawrence, Head of Sixth Form at Shireland CBSO Academy, said: “We want our students to feel inspired and confident in the pathways they choose, and we strive to provide an environment where they can excel both academically and creatively.

“Our Sixth Form is a community where individuality is recognised, talents are nurtured and young people are encouraged to explore their ambitions and exceed their potential. We are committed to helping our students grow in confidence and develop the skills they need to thrive and stand out in the next stage of their lives.”

The Connexions Sandwell New Year New Start Careers Fair is the perfect opportunity to meet Shireland CBSO Academy Sixth Form representatives and discover their unique post-16 offering. Whether students are just starting their research or finalising their options for September 2026, the Academy team will be on hand to offer advice and answer any questions.
