We had a wonderful musical morning we at one of our Trust primary schools today, joined by members of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO).
Children from Reception to Year 3 at Shireland Technology Primary, based in Smethwick, heard all about the exciting plans for the new Academy from Principal Designate David Green, and then joined members of the CBSO in their ‘Race Through Space’ performance.
Through listening to the orchestra perform pieces from Mozart to Holst, children learnt all about each different section of the orchestra as well as some key skills that players need to be able to perform effectively, including endurance, strength and a positive mindset.
It was an inspiring morning for everyone involved and clear to see how much the children enjoyed the chance to watch professional musicians perform live.
Over the next few days we will be visiting the primary schools across Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust, as well as a few others around Sandwell.
