The Academy

The Shireland CBSO Academy is the result of an exciting partnership between Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO).  Occupying a prominent location in West Bromwich, Sandwell, the academy will deliver an outstanding education for its students built on a foundation of academic and musical excellence.

This partnership will ensure that young people from diverse backgrounds across the West Midlands have a real and genuine opportunity to achieve musically at an elite and national level. In addition, the school will enable all students to benefit from the emotional, social, physical and academic benefits that active participation in music has been demonstrated to bring.

Every student at the academy will have the opportunity to learn an instrument and be part of a group capable of performing. This will require a commitment to frequent practice and extra-curricular activities.
